Vulnerability : Shortcast
Sunday Aug 08, 2021
Sunday Aug 08, 2021
How vulnerable are you willing to be? Vulnerability gives us the opportunity to connect, but it also puts us at risk of failure and shame. Those were some of the things discussed in last week’s shortcast ‘Failure and Forgiveness’ so it seems apt to follow on with a conversation about daring to be vulnerable.
As a child I experienced ridicule and shame from a few ‘unenlightened’ teachers. It was normal in the 1960’s and 70’s, but sadly (as my son tells me) it still happens a lot in schools today. It taught me to build a shell around my emotions to avoid feeling vulnerable and made meaningful relationships difficult to find. My interest in performance in my 20’s is what turned things around for me. Learning to access my emotions through performance and acting classes gave me the courage to take it further in my personal life. Being vulnerable with friends and family has opened the door to rewarding relationships. In particular it has enabled me to connect and role model vulnerability with my son.
Another place where it’s risky to be vulnerable is in the world of media and politics. Having the courage to speak the truth publicly is the place where many of us feel most vulnerable. And what happens when what we thought was true isn’t. How many people have the courage to admit they were wrong? We see it a lot when people dig their heels in to defend a standpoint just to avoid being vulnerable and open to shame. But what happens when we dare to say I was wrong? This is where the riches are. This is where we create connections and build trust.
Speaking from experience, I can say being vulnerable is worth the effort. I hope you’ll join me in this conversation and explore your own experiences around vulnerability.

Terry Sidhu : The Path of Least Resistance
Wednesday Aug 04, 2021
Wednesday Aug 04, 2021
Unlike many of us who have been conditioned to believe life is a struggle and we have to push through challenges to reach our goals, Terry Sidhu’s philosophy is to…
“Find The Path of Least Resistance”
It is a refreshing change, and quite a surprise considering the challenges Terry faced as the child of immigrant descent growing up in a working class environment in central England.
“I grew up in 4 different communities and didn’t quite fit into any of them.”
When asked where his story begins, Terry takes us right back to his primary school years. Born the child of Indian heritage Terry’s home life was steeped in the Punjabi traditions. However, living in Wolverhampton meant his English school education was strongly influenced by western Christianity.
As if that wasn’t confusing enough for a quiet sensitive child, Terry also found it difficult to fit in with his peers. From an early age he had to contend with extensive exclusion, ridicule and bullying from other children, both at school and in the frequent social gatherings within the Sikh community.
“I never felt comfortable in this experience called life. I didn’t understand it”
Because of this Terry resorted to a solitary life and a lot of his thoughts and ideas tended to be of a religious, esoteric nature.

Failings and Forgiveness : Shortcast
Sunday Aug 01, 2021
Sunday Aug 01, 2021
Today’s Shortcast conversation is about two common ‘F’ Words: Failings and Forgiveness.
There are a number of reasons why these are on my mind this week. One, because a friend of mine competing in a major Iron Man challenge had to pull out towards the end of it. Another is the Simone Biles conversations that are spinning around in the news and social media this week. The third is the result of meeting up with some friends who are currently struggling to come to terms with a past failure.
The question is why is there such a stigma about failing? Babies fail all the time, and yet we don't criticize them for it. So where does it all go wrong? What happens in individuals and in society to turn failure into such a terrible thing? And why is it filled with so many emotive judgements?

Roles : Shortcast
Sunday Jul 18, 2021
Sunday Jul 18, 2021
As a follow on from last week’s shortcast, this week’s reflection is about Roles.
Last week I talked about Labels and how, when asked what we do, we mostly define ourselves by our job title. But there is so much more to who we are than that. I invited listeners to explore this for themselves and create new ways of describing who they are. Expanding on that topic, this week I am talking about the different roles we play in life and how we want to be seen or defined by them.
Roles can be defined in infinite ways and I have listed some of these below to help you define the roles you play. But mostly we accept these roles without giving them much thought. So this is an invitation to explore them more deeply.
Are we blindly accepting roles that have been defined for us?
Or are we choosing them more consciously?
By reflecting on this topic, we have an opportunity to engage in our various roles with more integrity and bring them into alignment with our mission, or purpose in life.
There are an infinite number of roles in life. Here are just a few to consider:-
Husband/Wife/Partner, Parent, Child, Friend, Lover, Comrade, Co-worker, Employer, Employee, Patient, Counsellor, Teacher (not just in teaching or counselling professions), Student, Customer, Team Player, Team Leader, Community Citizen, Helper (i.e. supporting others with health, life challenges etc.).
And the there are the more obscure ones like Driver; what role do you play behind the wheel of your car and Social Media; what do you share and what do you hide?
Ultimately the question is:-
How do you want to be remembered for the roles you play in people’s lives?
What do you want your legacy to be?

Labels : Shortcast
Sunday Jul 11, 2021
Sunday Jul 11, 2021
This week we are exploring the role of Labels. Why do we have them? Why do we need them? How do we use them and above all, are they serving their true purpose?
The convention in society is to use your job title to describe who you are. But is that who you really are, and what happens when you don’t have a job title. Do you cease to exist? Well obviously not, but it is an interesting point and for some people this loss of title can cause an identity crisis.
So how do we fix that? I am sharing my thoughts on the matter and inviting you to consider your relationship with your job title and other identity labels.

Independence : Shortcast
Sunday Jul 04, 2021
Sunday Jul 04, 2021
With it being 4th July there can really only be one topic of conversation; the exploration of Independence and what it means.
Whilst today is the day America celebrates it’s independence from the UK, it is also the day my wife and I moved in together and began our exploration of interdependence. So my thoughts naturally turn to what that means to us as a couple, what it means in relationship to raising children and living in community with others. In this context, communal living can mean the local communities we create with friends and family or the larger community created as a nation.
There are several aspects to explore here:
Dependence, Independence, Co-dependence and Interdependence.
What is the difference between them? How do we create a balance that healthily supports each individual to flourish and contribute their best to the whole? I hope you will join me as I share my personal thoughts on this. I also invite you to continue your own exploration with the following questions:
- Where do you express independence?
- Where are you dependent on others?
- Do you have any co-dependent relationships?
- Where could you allow more interdependence into your life?

John Vuong : Resilience & Relationships
Wednesday Jun 09, 2021
Wednesday Jun 09, 2021
John’s story begins at his birth just 2 weeks after his parents and 3 older siblings had arrived in Toronto, Canada. Having liquidated all of their life in war-torn Vietnam, John’s parents had moved the family across the world to start a new life “for the betterment of the next generation”.
When he turned 40 last year, John expected to celebrate by inviting family and friends to take a big holiday with him but thanks to COVID this didn’t happen. Nonetheless turning 40 is a landmark for John and, as you will discover, the party idea holds more significance than it would for most

I'm So Excited
Sunday Apr 11, 2021
Sunday Apr 11, 2021
Whilst shopping I noticed the in-congruence of seeing a lone adult pushing one of those child sized shopping carts loaded to capacity with groceries. It became apparent why when an exuberant 4-5 year old came running up the isle full of excitement about being bought a packet of biscuits by the other (as yet unseen) adult with them.
This sheer joy over a packet of biscuits is something we rarely experience as adults.
Although, it may not be a packet of biscuits that does it for us, there are still some equally joyous moments to be experienced that we often let slip by without fully appreciating.
So on that note, I am sharing with you what I’m so excited about this week, the special gift my wife and I have joyfully created for you.
I’m so excited to launch the newly updated Five Questions eBook and Worksheets
It finally completed and ready to be shared with you, and the reason it’s so exciting is because it is our combined passion and life experiences that have been poured into it and the vision that it can support others in reconnecting with moments of passion in their life.
And, as if that wasn’t enough on it’s own, the extra special offer that we are sharing to celebrate it’s launch is the gift of One Month’s Free Access to 3 event sessions from any one of our currently available Virtual Events.

That’s it from me. I hope you enjoy our gift and that you find some equally joyous moments to celebrate this week.
Can You Help With My Podcast Research?
So what are the conversations I am having about podcasts? Well, the aim is to explore how to move Life Passion & Business to the next level, and for this I need your help. There are two options…
Option One:
The written survey will give me valuable information on what listeners enjoy and what inspires you. It’s anonymous and just a handful of multiple choice questions with space to add comments if you wish.
Survey Link: https://cutt.ly/Gxg5AiS
However, there is nothing better than a good conversation and an opportunity to get to know you better. So my preference is…
Option Two:
To have a one to one chat on Zoom. This would be a 15 minute informal chat about your listening choices and what you think makes a good podcast. It’s quick and easy to book, and you choose a time and date that suits you.
Appointment Link: https://paulharvey.as.me/research-chat
I hope you can help me out. The podcast is for you, so the more conversations I have with listeners the clearer my direction will be.

This week’s topic is about that well known phrase “Living the Dream” and it has come about because of a conversation with a shop assistant earlier this week.
As it is always my way to open conversations, I asked this young assistant “how is your day going” and she replied with “Oh yeah, living the dream” in a sarcastic sort of way. Ignoring the sarcasm I continued with “do you genuinely mean that” and she looked at me as though I’d just done something inappropriate.
As we were coming to the end of the transaction I left her by gently suggesting “maybe you need to look at that and do something about it”. But this conversation has stuck with me all week and that is why I am bringing the question up here.

Saying No To Move Forward
Sunday Mar 14, 2021
Sunday Mar 14, 2021
How often do you say no?
We all like to be helpful, so saying no can often be difficult, especially when a friend asks a favour.
However, sometimes No is a necessity, especially when someone else would be better suited to the task, and saying Yes would be just another distraction that would take us away from achieving our goals.

Remy Blumenfeld: Finding Balance After LIfe In Television
Wednesday Feb 24, 2021
Wednesday Feb 24, 2021
Remy Blumenfeld began is professional life in front of the camera on US television as a reporter on arts and entertainment. However, his interests have always been in society’s edges, and in the early 90s, that meant giving a platform and a voice to the issues of race and gender.
Leaving the US, he moved to the UK and started a production company with a co-founder, initially from his bedroom in a crime-ridden area of London. He had no previous experience of running a business, but that did not stop them.
Remy and his co-founder established Brighter Pictures, producing the first Asian pop culture show for BBC2 and a black music show for British Channel 4, a programme that aired for nine years.
He is credited with over 30 original television series and is the TV format creator of ‘There’s Something About Miriam‘, ‘Gay, Straight or Taken?‘, ‘Wudja Cudja‘ and ‘Undercover Lovers‘.
Remy ran Brighter Pictures for 10 years, building a solid reputation in managing creative teams and making successful TV programmes. He sold the company to Endemol (creators of Big Brother) in 2001 and continued working in the company until 2004.
Our conversation is not about his TV work, it is about his transition into supporting creative founders to find the edge and explore their passion. It is about helping the next generation of creatives reach goals and avoiding some of the deep failures and pitfalls that he experienced during his career. Some of those mistakes cost him millions.
“Success is about Balance having a life where energy time and resources are shared between the things that are important to us.”
Remy is a deep thinker, and this was a rich conversation that explores his journey and changing career. It has not been all roses and success; there were failures and low points. There was a near-death experience that led him to look at life again and consider what was important.
” In my hospital bed with hours to live, they let me sleep with my dog, and I survived…”
Remy Blumenfeld is a prolific write and commenter, with articles in Forbes, the Independent Newspaper, the New York Times and the Sunday Times.
He is considered one of the world’s leading business coaches and advisor for the creative industry, with clients in film, tv, advertising, publishing and the gaming sector.
His latest project is called “Stand Out” it is a 9 module online programme, a course for creative founders. Remy saw the need for a programme to fill the missing gap that all creative founders experience, just as he did when he launched his first company.
“People get into show business and they focus on the show, they hope the business will look after itself, but it is the business that makes it work.”
Remy’s journey has been a life-changing experience, and I am so delighted he took some time to share his story with me.

Ann Sieg : Family & Business
Wednesday Oct 21, 2020
Wednesday Oct 21, 2020
My guest on the podcast is very much a family woman for whom business has always been about family. Ann Sieg is an E-Commerce Coach and Community Builder. Taking pride of place on the bookshelf in her office is a pair of knitted Christmas Bells. Her grandmother taught her to knit them when she was just eight years old.
Her mother suggested she knit a few more and go and sell them to the neighbours, that was her first taste of entrepreneurship.
As a young teenager watching the Romanian gymnast, Nadia Comăneci ignited her passion for the sport. It was a little late to start such a demanding practice, but with focus and determination and some reverse engineering, she worked out a training plan to build strength and flexibility into her body.
Although it was too late to become a competitive athlete; her passion for the sport led her to a career as a coach and she worked full time in a sports gym teaching and coaching. As much as she loved that job, it was too much for her body, she retired after 12 years, choosing to focus her time on homeschooling her three children. Not a total surprise as teaching was in her family.
"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire."
A quote attributed to William Butler Yeats.
Taking this quote as the guide, Ann looked to inspire her children and create a varied education so of course one of the topics was business. This time, instead of knitted tree decorations her boys sold toy swords on eBay.
Ann moved into Direct Sales and MLM with varying success; however it was going into business with her eldest son and developing the tools of online marketing when things took off for them. Remember those reverse engineering skills.
Ann developed and documented her direct response process on how to get new customers and prospects to come to you. Ann Sieg is considered one of the pioneers of attraction marketing. Not many authors can say their work has been read by over 400,000 people worldwide.
After training thousands of entrepreneurs and direct sales reps how to build their own online sales funnels and info product businesses, Ann has since redirected her focus into the e-commerce retail space.
Continuing with her love of teaching, she has created coaching and teaching programmes that have impacted the lives of 10’s of thousands of people across the world.
Ann is all about supporting families to build a successful business, and creating communities that support and learn together. Ann is as passionate as ever and has the vision to help 1000’s of people make $10,000 a month and build their own family economy while working from home.

Virtual Event: SPIRIT-DUALITY 14-22 November 2020
I am very aware that life is full of questions that we are seeking answers to.
When I started this podcast, I was looking for meaning. It was exploring the stories of others that helped me find want I was looking for and discover a new purpose in life.
Over that last month, I have had the most fantastic experience speaking to guests from across the world—all to deepen my understanding of what it means to be human.
Spirit-duality is an exploration of the human being from the perspective of belief, intuition and our connection to something greater than the sum of our parts.
As I said, life is full of questions. How is it that some people flow through it all, even when they are challenged?
They seem to have an inner compass, a guide. How do they do that, and what is their secret? Is it self knowledge, confidence or something more?
Through the event we are exploring these life stories and supporting you to find your own compass for these challenging times.
Since starting this podcast, my life work seems to have moved into encouraging, helping and supporting people to live their best life, and I am recognising how we can all be catalysts for each other.
There are 2000 free tickets, come and be part of the community at Spirit-duality and let’s do something extraordinary together.

This week’s Sunday reflection is dedicated to Jim Bliwis
Jim was a virtual friend who passed away only days after his podcast conversation with me was published just over a week ago. This shortcast is my thoughts on Jim and the effect of loosing a friend I had never met in person.
We start with a few words from the podcast and Jim’s view on life. And from there a few words from another friend of his, Tsufit who shares a little bit about him.
The podcast is recorded next to a local monument Sueno’s Stone in Forres. It feels appropriate to be standing here beside a stone that was erected as a tribute. Although I never met Jim and only had a couple of proper conversations with him, I had known him for several years through a LinkedIn group we belonged to and it was a shock to hear of his passing, especially as it was such a short time after recording and publishing the podcast.
This is the first time I have lost a virtual friend, and it occurs to me this is something that hasn’t really been considered. I won’t be able to attend his funeral, so how do I recognize and honour Jim from afar?
Jim’s was a colourful life and I had been chasing Jim to come on the podcast for over a year but he wasn’t up for it. Then out of the blue, he contacted me in September and asked to do it. We recorded the programme on 17th September, and normally it would be 6+ weeks before publishing, but last week I had a problem with the scheduled podcast, so I decided to put Jim’s up instead.
The podcast went live on 30th September/1st October which meant that Jim had a chance to hear it. Then people started connecting with him, asking who was the actress, who was the rockstar. He was really chuffed by this and I feel honoured and touched that I was able to make it possible for him and that people will get to hear his story in his own words through my podcast.
It’s also fascinating that the problem with the other recording ‘coincidentally’ or ‘divinely’ (depending on your viewpoint) meant that Jim had the opportunity to know that others responded to his story with interest and enthusiasm.
So as Jim quoted…
“The meaning of life isn’t to seek the answers, but to find the questions and ask them”.
Thank you Jim, for touching my life and leaving me with this parting gift.

Tracey Rampling Brown : A Leap of Faith
Wednesday Oct 07, 2020
Wednesday Oct 07, 2020
Scroll down for further details about today’s guest.
Welcome to the programme and what an amazing week it’s been. In addition to talking to Tracey Rampling Brown about a 20-year journey and a leap of faith. I am having some amazing conversations with people from all walks of life that I would never have spoken to before.
The conversations are all down to the virtual events, the latest being Spirit-duality. This week I have spoken to a Jesuit, a Rabi, an Intuitive Storyteller and I have scheduled a conversation with an Astronaut! More details below the show notes.
Back to today’s guest Tracey Rampling Brown
Back in April when I was planning my first event, I was looking for speakers and via a string of social connections I landed a call with Tracey Rampling Brown.
I was met with her bright Australian accent and we hit it off immediately. Then I discovered she was living near Turin, Italy. She had relocated the family 18 month previously and life was ‘interesting’ as they were in the middle of a full COVID lockdown.
Tracey was a great asset to the event, and she came back and did another session in my second event. But all the while I was aware there was a story.
What is it that makes a family relocate to the other side of the world?
It turns out that the move was the culmination of a 20-year journey and a leap of faith. Tracey and her husband were both born to families that travelled a lot through their work. They know the benefits that travel and new environments can bring and wanted their children to have the same experience.
This podcast is her story. The journey of turning a dream into a new family life became a reality which meant a big change, a leap of faith and trusting in a little magic.
Using that experience and some retraining, Tracey has built a new career as a ‘Mindset and Manifestation Coach’ working with heart-centred women looking to bring a bit of magic into their own lives.
Tracey’s style is a blend of woo-woo with equal measures of science to back it up. She combines elements of Positive Intelligence, traditional and appreciative coaching methodologies with the Law of Attraction, Reiki and Tarot/Oracle reading!
I hope you enjoy this week’s conversation with Tracey Rampling Brown.
If you would like to get in touch with Tracey you can reach her through her website: https://vibrantcoach.com/ or via
As with all projects that are driven by passion and enthusiasm, this event grew out an internal inquiry…
Why do my Podcast Guests Skirt Around The Spirituality Conversation?
…which gets bigger and wider. There is a sense of wonder and synchronicity that comes from the connections and conversations we have.
Spirit-duality is a bit like a Spiritual Christmas Hamper full of delicious goodies. When you dive in, you discover a lot of things you’ve never tried before. Some you’ll love, some you won’t, but unless you try them, you will never know.
