Ziad Zammer : Hummus & Hobbies
Wednesday Apr 07, 2021
Wednesday Apr 07, 2021
This week’s topic is Hummus & Hobbies with Ziad Zammer. Born in Lebanon, Ziad moved to Australia when he was 3 years old and at 10 he returned to Lebanon. He stayed there for 6 years before returning once again to Australia where he has lived ever since. His life is a fusion of both cultures.
Enjoying the Podcast? Let me know or show your support…
At high school in Australia, Ziad did Business Studies and hated it. Which brought him to the decision that physical work was the better option.
He found work in the mines and stayed for few years, becoming became a driller. This inspired him to explore the oil and gas industry. That led him back into study, he achieved a Bachelors degree in Petroleum and Drilling Engineering.
Working in the industry was good, well paid but not enough, and he longed to do more. In Arab culture, food is a big part of family life. So he decided the restaurant business was the place to fulfil his true potential. However, he had no knowledge or experience, and as it is often said,
If you want to loose money, start a restaurant”
My jaw dropped when Ziad said he managed the kitchen but hated cooking. But none of this stopped him. Working with his ex-wife Kaitlin Eterovich in 2016, they opened a Lebanese Arab fusion restaurant called The Hummus Club
This project is an example of being willing to take on a challenge with the purpose to fulfil a bigger objective.

Starting a new 100 seater restaurant business with 25 new staff, and none of them having any idea what they were doing might be considered crazy. And that’s how it looked for a while. Day one, nothing happened. Day two got better and within a few weeks, the restaurant was serving 100 plus covers a night.
This is an amazing story of how a project can be successful with passion and purpose at the helm. We talk about leadership, self-awareness, the wake call and the mistakes made along the way.
This is about values and failures and acceptance of who we are.
My conversation with Ziad is very candid and unexpected. His main reason for doing the podcast was to talk about his Baseball Card Collecting compulsion. So along with the highs and lows of being a restaurateur, there are some deep issues in this conversation. Amongst others they include the psychology of collecting.
There is one point in where he turns the tables on me and my inspiration for podcasting. Which gave me an interesting challenge.
Thank you for joining me with Ziad Zammer for Hummus & Hobbies. His links are below along with opportunities to enjoy more podcasts and resources on Life Passion & Business.

Russ Avery : Eco Entrepreneur
Wednesday Mar 31, 2021
Wednesday Mar 31, 2021
Today’s guest is Russ Avery, Eco Entrepreneur and Specialist Marketer for Sustainable Businesses. He was brought up in Helensburgh on Scotland’s north western coast.
Growing up under the influence of David Attenborough on TV, he had an outdoor childhood. Because of this he developed an early appreciation of the natural world that called him into his future career.
He is a sustainability marketing consultant. Both of these are close to my own passion and interest, so we had to be careful not to get too carried away. If you have listened to my previous shows, you will know I can easily go down a rabbit hole with my guests.
From Languages to Sustainability
In education, Russ was a natural with languages and studied French and Spanish to an advanced level. University followed, and breaking the pattern, he chose a degree in French and Russian.
However a language degree is not that vocational, and on leaving Exeter University, in 2007 his future was unclear. By 2009 he had settled on the idea of sustainability. So taking a course with the Open University opened the door to his first break in the industry.
A New Career
Russ’ first job was with Seaweb which is a small ocean conservation charity. They raise awareness of overfishing, sea acidification and bridging the gap between science and communications.
Our conversation follows how Russ found his ikigai when he moved into the sustainability sector. This is what ultimately started his marketing consultancy to help sustainable businesses communicate well.
Russ is a natural connector of people, so we had a wide-ranging chat. So we covered how social media and networking played a pivotal role in his business journey.
Naturally we talked about sustainability and how business is changing. We also talked about how you can make a difference in your own life with just a straightforward change of attitude.
I hope you enjoy this Life Passion & Business Podcast with Russ Avery Eco Entrepreneur.

My guest on the show today was born in Spain in a small town outside Barcelona. Angel Ribo, known as the CEO Confidant, heads a consultancy for international business expansion and a charity teaching entrepreneurship to kids in Latin America.
Scroll down for contact details and/or links regarding this Podcast
Languages were an early factor in his future success, Spanish, Catalan, French, English and Portuguese.
College Life
He went to college in the big city of Barcelona to study Engineering and Computer Coding. College life was good; he got his degree but realised that it was not going to be his career.
During college, he volunteered at the 1992 Olympic games as part of the team managing the scoring and stats for the volleyball competition. That was where he discovered the joy of working in teams as part of a bigger project.
Out of college and having established software and coding were not for him, he looked for work, and the universe helped. He took on an International Relations’ role at his college, a perfect opportunity to use his language skills and travel.
The big break came when Angel was headhunted by an Audiovisual Projects company in Barcelona, more project and teamwork with creative professionals.
The Joy of Travel
His degree was put to good use in 1999 when he moved to the UK and found work with an international company selling Software and Training. Living in the UK and working for a US company opened the door to sales, networking and lots of travel.
Over the last 21 years, Angel has empowered more than 1,500 CEOs in 33 different countries. He is a Public Speaker, CEO Consultant, Board Member, Philanthropist and has lived in 8 countries.
Angel Ribo Has Two Missions In Life.
1) The non-profit Wisdom for Kids . There are 81 million children living in poverty in Latin America. “Wisdom for Kids” has already supported over 1000 families and half of his coaching fee goes straight to the organisation.
2) The second mission is connected to the first, and it is to inspire CEOs’ to give back to the world.
Our conversation is a journey of exploration, travel and discovery. I hope you enjoy the conversation with Angel Ribo.

Marques Ogden : The Success Cycle
Wednesday Mar 17, 2021
Wednesday Mar 17, 2021
My guest on the show is Marques Ogden, NFL Player, Entrepreneur, and in different times Keynote Speaker.
Marques had some excellent family role models in his early years and was brought up to believe anything is possible. In high school, a visiting NFL football player inspired him to work towards a dream.
Scroll down for contact details and/or links regarding this Podcast
It was his dedication to focus and hard work that won him a scholarship and a place at Howard University in Washington DC. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, with an emphasis on construction and cost accounting.
But more than that, he was the first and only young man to be drafted (while at college) to the National Football League with the Jacksonville Jaguars, playing offensive lineman. The average NFL player gets 18-24 months at the professional level. Marques stayed at the professional level for 6 years, building a solid career with the Jaguars, the Baltimore Ravens, the Buffalo Bills, and the Tennessee Titans
As said, he played well beyond the average, but the body can only take so much before the injuries get serious. At 27 he hung up the helmet and padding and went to find a life as an entrepreneur.
Along with his dedication to hard work and focus, this is when the degree in construction paid off. It allowed him and his business partner to create one of the fastest-growing companies in Baltimore, Maryland, for 2010. However, rapid growth can lead to a significant fall, and that fall was deep.
Within 3 years he lost everything. His home, cars and his pride.
“I was a Millionaire in April 2012 by April 2013
I had just $400 to my name. and that was it. ”
Taking Any Job He Could Get
Playing with the NFL, Marques was on $20,000 a week; after lots of searching, the only work he could find was a custodian on the graveyard shift at $8.25/ hour.
Our conversation is the journey of his highs and lows. It takes time and dedication to get back on track and this is a beautiful story of financial rediscovery and contribution.
Today Marques has a mission to inspire accountably within people so they discover the passion and drive to get on and achieve greatness.
He is currently a Keynote Speaker, Executive Coach, Best-selling Author and Marketing Leader, helping to build others’ success.
I hope you enjoy the conversation with Marques Ogden.

Saying No To Move Forward
Sunday Mar 14, 2021
Sunday Mar 14, 2021
How often do you say no?
We all like to be helpful, so saying no can often be difficult, especially when a friend asks a favour.
However, sometimes No is a necessity, especially when someone else would be better suited to the task, and saying Yes would be just another distraction that would take us away from achieving our goals.
This is a Sunday Reflection Shortcast from your podcast host Paul Harvey.

Isaac Mostovicz : Diamonds & Luxury
Thursday Mar 04, 2021
Thursday Mar 04, 2021
Scroll down for contact details
My guest on the show today is Israeli born, diamond expert Isaac Mostovicz.
We begin his story at the age of 26 when he was offered a senior role with diamond manufacturer Muller & Sons. A life-changing opportunity for him and his family which meant relocating to Antwerp, Belgium.
In the 1980’s business was booming and it was an exciting time for diamond manufacturers. Isaac was eager and inspired to be in the luxury diamond market where he pioneered new styles of cutting and polishing precious stones.
His passion and dedication turned the factory into one of the very best in the industry. He achieved that success by giving his production team the freedom and encouragement to express their personality as true artisans through diamond polishing.
Success brought rewards and he became the CEO of the company, earning him both respect and reputation within the industry. Sales were good, so money was good, but Isaac could see the industry was flawed and he had questions.
The company’s success opened the door to conversations with some of the biggest names in the diamond industry. In every meeting, Isaac asked the same question, “Why do people buy diamonds?”
Isaac was troubled with the answers he received, and it led him on a quest to find the truth for himself. He threw himself into study, completing his MBA and a PhD in luxury marketing and consumer behaviour. He achieved all of this whilst still running his successful business, which gave him a distinct advantage for selling into luxury markets.
However, like many luxury markets, the diamond business was a house of cards that collapsed with the 2008 financial crash. After 40 years, Isaac was out of work.
This conversation takes us on a journey through the history of diamonds, covering the rise and fall of the business through the eyes of someone who lived and saw the crash coming. It continues with Isaac’s recovery and reinvention and expresses the importance of engaging the heart to impassion the journey of business development.
Today Isaac works with C-suite decision-makers and founders to emotionally reconnect them to their business. He has researched and coached C-suite decision-makers on leadership, ethics, (corporate social responsibility and corporate governance.

Remy Blumenfeld: Finding Balance After LIfe In Television
Wednesday Feb 24, 2021
Wednesday Feb 24, 2021
Remy Blumenfeld began is professional life in front of the camera on US television as a reporter on arts and entertainment. However, his interests have always been in society’s edges, and in the early 90s, that meant giving a platform and a voice to the issues of race and gender.
Leaving the US, he moved to the UK and started a production company with a co-founder, initially from his bedroom in a crime-ridden area of London. He had no previous experience of running a business, but that did not stop them.
Remy and his co-founder established Brighter Pictures, producing the first Asian pop culture show for BBC2 and a black music show for British Channel 4, a programme that aired for nine years.
He is credited with over 30 original television series and is the TV format creator of ‘There’s Something About Miriam‘, ‘Gay, Straight or Taken?‘, ‘Wudja Cudja‘ and ‘Undercover Lovers‘.
Remy ran Brighter Pictures for 10 years, building a solid reputation in managing creative teams and making successful TV programmes. He sold the company to Endemol (creators of Big Brother) in 2001 and continued working in the company until 2004.
Our conversation is not about his TV work, it is about his transition into supporting creative founders to find the edge and explore their passion. It is about helping the next generation of creatives reach goals and avoiding some of the deep failures and pitfalls that he experienced during his career. Some of those mistakes cost him millions.
“Success is about Balance having a life where energy time and resources are shared between the things that are important to us.”
Remy is a deep thinker, and this was a rich conversation that explores his journey and changing career. It has not been all roses and success; there were failures and low points. There was a near-death experience that led him to look at life again and consider what was important.
” In my hospital bed with hours to live, they let me sleep with my dog, and I survived…”
Remy Blumenfeld is a prolific write and commenter, with articles in Forbes, the Independent Newspaper, the New York Times and the Sunday Times.
He is considered one of the world’s leading business coaches and advisor for the creative industry, with clients in film, tv, advertising, publishing and the gaming sector.
His latest project is called “Stand Out” it is a 9 module online programme, a course for creative founders. Remy saw the need for a programme to fill the missing gap that all creative founders experience, just as he did when he launched his first company.
“People get into show business and they focus on the show, they hope the business will look after itself, but it is the business that makes it work.”
Remy’s journey has been a life-changing experience, and I am so delighted he took some time to share his story with me.

My guest on today’s programme is Natsume Oki, a young woman living in Japan, a YouTube host, a Business Advisor and an Author who has ‘a passion to contribute to the human race”. That was one of the first things she said in our introductory conversation.
Natsune was brought up in an entrepreneurial Japanese family living in Japan but struggled with the cultural hierarchy of Japanese society, where to be humble means to work hard and stay where you are. She always knew that business for her was the answer to create the futureshe wanted.
Attending college with a view to taking a business degree, within a year she made the bold decision to move to America. Despite her limited grasp of the English language or resources to fall back on, she trusted her instinct to follow through on this drive to break out of her culture.
Her arrival in Seattle began an 8-year journey in Tech Startup and during this time she established a sexy clothing brand and created a company that supports international project management. She is committed to supporting Japanese businesses to grow both at home and abroad.
The eight years in the Start-Up community taught her about business development and project planning. She developed her own systems using the Japanese principle of IKIGAI which led to the publication of her book ‘The Game of Self-Domination’ a guidebook about self-discovery and achieving lifelong success.
Today Natsume’s focus is on her YouTube Channel ‘LifeupeducationTV’ about entertainment and education featuring stories of high achievers across a wide variety of industries from entertainment to technology.
“I want to help humanity make progress”
Natsune Oki’s story is about the Fusion of East meeting West, she is a powerful woman who will achieve whatever goal she can dream of.
I hope you enjoy this conversation with Natsune as much as I did. if you would like to connect with her you can find her on:

Wednesday Feb 03, 2021
Scroll down for contact details and/or links
My guest on the show today is a successful speaker & presenter on the world stage and now an author. Dawna Campbell, like many who follow the classic career 'success' model reached the point where it almost crushed her.
When Dawna was nine, her mum asked her what she wanted to do with her life. Joining Greenpeace and saving the whales was her first choice. Her mum was unconvinced that it was the right life choice and suggested a more professional vocation.
“Be a Doctor lawyer or even a scientist.”
It was that conversation that set her on the path towards a professional career in finance. After years of study, College degrees and security exams, she moved into the finance industry and became passionate about helping middle-class families get the finance they needed for a better life.
After ten years in the industry, with the stress and anxiety burning her out from the inside, her body was giving up. With years of ongoing ill health and even surgery, in desperation and looking for a solution, she found an alternative route that put her on a new path of discovery.
Since 2010 Dawna has been known as the ‘Mind Whisperer’. She combines her past knowledge, wisdom, and experience to help people restore life and move towards happiness, prosperity, and love.
Over that last year Dawna has combined her 25 years of professional experience in the finance and alternative sector to create a book:
It brings together the financial world, the energy body, and the soul’s essence.
When free to do so, Dawna travels as a motivational speaker and workshop leader. She is passionate to share Heart Centered Healing philosophy as a means to creating a world that is a better place for all.

Wednesday Jan 20, 2021
My guest on the show today is a Transformational Coach working with professional women. Tulay Massey was born in Turkey and as a dutiful daughter, she studied hard and received a scholarship to an English University where she achieved a Degree and PhD in Food Science.
She secured her first job in the coffee industry where she stayed for 19 years. First successfully developing products and ultimately developing people. It was the process of working with people and seeing the transformation that inspired her most.
In 2017 a viral infection took her to bed for over 7 weeks and allowed her time to evaluate her life. It was listening to the ‘Mind Your Business podcast no. 114 that changed her perspective and opened the door to an opportunity in the coaching industry that she hadn’t considered before.
As Tulay says:
” I failed many of my goals but always achieved my dreams.”
Coming from industry, she understands the pressure and challenges faced by high achieving professional women. It is her mission to help them change from people-pleasers into conscious ‘Heart-Centred Creators’ who find their purpose, meaning and self-worth’
This conversation fits very well with January’s theme of setting goals and intentions.

Brenden Kumarasamy : Are You Sharing Your Message?

Scroll down for Contact details and/or Links regarding this Podcast
As we enter the third week of 2021, like many other countries, the UK is back in full lockdown and while we have been here before, what was a short-term measure last year, now feels like a part of everyday life. The virus has forced us to change how we interact with family, friends and the world, and for many Zoom has become as familiar as the telephone and email for our daily business connections.
Before COVID, public speaking and presentation were on the top ten list of things that people feared. Nowadays, most businesses have discovered the convenience of remote meetings and are developing techniques for enhancing this medium. However, while I suspect that these experiences do help, speaking live in front of a group of people still raises the heart rate and causes anxiety for many.
My guest on today’s programme has no such fear. He is a young man who is passionate about building a better world through the power of presentation and the sharing of ideas. Whilst this is a conversation about speaking it is also a talk about planning a good life.
Brenden is a high achiever. Choosing to become an accountant when he was 12, he studied hard, reached that goal and has moved on to his current dream job as a technology consultant with IBM.
This podcast is about his passion for presentation and communication, his philosophy, and how he has decided to plan a good life by dreaming into all the potential mistakes he intends to avoid. It is a fascinating conversation.
Brenden Kumarasamy is on a mission to support people towards better communication through mastering the art of public speaking and getting your message out. Currently, he is coaching purpose-driven entrepreneurs, which, for him is about helping them find their message, their voice, and building the skills to share those ideas with the world.
In January 2019 he started a YouTube channel called Master Talk and in just over a year he achieved 5000 subscribers and is getting close to 90,000 views—a fantastic result for such a short time.
Brenden Kumarasamy is a man with a mission I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did.
If you want to connect with Brenden, you can find him on YouTube and Instagram or at his website https://www.mastertalk.ca/

January 2021 did you join in the yearly rush to make plans and set goals?
If you have been around here for a while, you will know that I have a love-hate relationship with goals. At the same time, I accept that a life without them can be lacking and really successful people tend to be goal setters.
However, first, you might have to ask what really successful means: if you want to visit the moon, it will take some goal setting and planning.
There have been times in life when I have been very focused and goal-orientated, and other times when the goal became a tool to bludgeon myself. The failure to achieve what I thought I wanted can be put down to simple truths.
The goal was not mine, or the outcome did not matter enough, and I did not enjoy the journey towards it.
For a goal to stick there must be an intention and strong desire to go way past it.
So my advice is to make sure the goals you are setting are yours and aligned with your bigger picture so you can get excited about the journey towards it and beyond.
The other significant tool/ success factor is accountability. While only you can do the work. Telling someone else that you will stick to an agreement is a game-changer for getting stuff done.
If you want help with this check out the links for focus coaching in the show notes and on the Life Passion and Business website.

Do you play enough?
Play is something that most of us associate with childhood. As adults, we might play with children. But most people gave up playing with stuff when they hit puberty.
Yes, it is ok to play sports, cards or board games, but there are adult responsibilities, so it is believed that there is no time for ‘child’s play’ in this world. There is a little light as the gaming industry has tapped into our desire to play and made it acceptable for adults to play online games. However, all of this play is still confined to our leisure time; the difference with children is that playing is the day job.
But what if we have got it wrong and play should be part of our day jobs as adults?
My guest on the show today is Jeff Harry, and he is a play coach. He shows individuals and companies how to tap into their true selves, to feel their happiest and most fulfilled — all by playing.
Jeff saw the movie “Big” where Tom hanks got to play in a toy shop, thinking that was a job he started writing to toy companies.
“I was spamming before spam was a thing.”
Letters from a 9-year-old get treated as kind of nice but politely rejected. Not that it stopped him, he kept writing, and by the time he was 15, he got some advice to study mechanical engineering.
He got the degree and got the job he had always wanted in toy company, only to discover it was not what he expected or wanted. There was no play!
There he was 25 and working in a cubicle, looking at a screen and writing reports about play. Then 9/11 happened and leaving New York seemed like a good option, so he quit.
Moving to the San Francisco bay area, he got the perfect job building stuff with Lego, and over the next 12 years he turned it into the largest Lego inspired stem organisation with over 400 people doing creative stuff.
Our conversation is the story of how Jeff took play into the business world. He has since worked with Google, Microsoft, Southwest Airlines, Adobe, the NFL, Amazon, and Facebook, helping their staff to infuse more play into the day-to-day.
Jeff is an established international speaker. He has been selected by BambooHR & Engagedly as one of the Top 100 HR Influencers of 2020, for his work in organisational development.
“While we spend most of our time pretending to be important, serious grown-ups, it’s when we let go of that facade and just play, that the real magic happens.”
It is a wonderful conversation; Jeff encourages us to embrace our nerdy genius, as it gives us the power to make a difference and change lives. He believes that we already have many of the answers we seek, and by simply unleashing our inner child, we can find our purpose and, in turn, help to create a better world.

That is it for this week, my final thoughts for the Christmas season…
"Be kind to all, but most of all be kind to yourself. "
It is a reflective time of year, and for those in the northern regions, it is cold, dark and a good time to snuggle up and go within.
I use this time to find inner wisdom, much of that was explained on the advent journey in a previous podcast. referencing our Spirit-duality event: https://spirit-duality.heysummit.com/checkout/select-tickets/

How productive are you? Do you get stuff done?
I have waves of ninja activity and days when it is just not happening. For me, it is all about accountability, so I have partners to hold me to this, or I make a public declaration that holds me to it. I even offer accountability to support in my coaching so that others feel held in achieving their goals.
Some people find organization and productivity easy, others struggle.
Thankfully in this world we are all different, which keeps it interesting, What comes easy to some is almost impossible to others. Of course, in a world of home working and restrictions, mindset implementation and productivity is a huge issue for many people.
There is also a flip side to this conversation; people who are so driven that they drive themselves into overwhelm. That is the story behind my guest on today’s show.
Louise Miller, the productivity mentor could always organise, even as a child she had a tidy bedroom. Efficiency has always been her thing.
“My Degree is in Reading and Colouring In.”

On leaving University, with a degree in English and Fine Art, her career path was unclear. But those organizational skills came in handy, and she became an administrator. She excelled to the point of promotion into management roles.
It was then that she discovered how unique her skill set was, as managing disorganized people is not so easy and often stressful.
Also, as an efficient and effective manager, more work ends up on your desk. There is truth in the phrase if you want something done ask a busy person.
Louise’s had a successful 15-year career in administration and management until work-related stress and anxiety lead to a near breakdown. It finally dawned on her that being that efficient and productive in an organisation is not always good for your health.
Our conversation is the story from almost total breakdown, to recovery and then on to soul searching discovery.
Louise now supports overwhelmed business owners to reach compassionate, sustainable productivity. It is her mission is to help others land their brilliant ideas in reality, grow a fulfilling business and create space for what they love doing.
