Gillian Davies Women's Transformation LP&B 80
Wednesday Jun 24, 2020
Wednesday Jun 24, 2020
The guest on the show today is Gillian Davies, and she is a women's transformational coach. Gillian specialises in helping women who are in their mid-late 40's, the early 50s. For these women, it is about giving themselves time and attention after many years of providing their focus to the family, careers or business.
Our conversation is about weight management and exercise and how it is the start of so much more.
Life Goes in Stages
It is hard to appreciate when we are young that life is a series of stages. I know this now but did not understand what that means until recently. To some extent, it is all tied up in the standard plan, the success model.
Thankfully most of us are born into the world with a fanfare of love and appreciation. There is that growing up bit, where everyone is so supportive, and then there is the finding your place in the world, getting a partner and maybe starting the family. Though all of these life stages, there is support and guidance from both family and friends.
But there are bumps in the road for men and women where support is somewhat lacking. For women, the significant shifts can arrive close, Children leaving home, Menopause or and Divorce.
All of these factors cause a revaluation of life, a search for meaning many people start that journey with health and fitness. My guess is it all about feeling better about the self.
Losing a few pounds and having more energy is always a great start and today's guest is there to help.
As will hear Gillian is from Ireland and growing up; she had her challenges with identity self-confidence and food. Physical exercise was always her place of escape; it made her feel better about herself.
In our conversation, she talks candidly about her struggle with alcohol and unhealthy relationships. It was the return to fitness that was the most successful coping mechanism.
The Science Career
She started in biomedical science and went into laboratory work and eventually moved into clinical diagnostics, microbiology and infectious diseases. Had she stayed in the career, her time would have been now working to solve the COVID crisis.
However, in 2016 after 14 years in the industry, the company she was working for changed their values. It no longer aligned with hers, so she leapt to follow her dreams and passions.
She did the big adventures climbing mountains, and stuff then returned home to Ireland with her husband and set up a nutrition and fitness business.
Her current mission is inspiring ladies to realise their abilities, increase their self-confidence and feel stronger both mentally and physically in the process.
I hope you enjoy the conversation with Gillian Davies.

What is your random question?
Sunday Jun 21, 2020
Sunday Jun 21, 2020
The random question is is the 4th question in the podcast and I call it random because of the way it asked. It's about getting the speaker, the guest to give me the one question that I can ask them, something that will open up the conversation to a new area.
It's the question that gives them an opportunity to say what they like but there's a lot more to it than that, this short programme is my thinking around the random question and opportunity for you to come up with one of your own

LP&B 79 Bryan Clayton Uber for Lawn Care
Thursday Jun 18, 2020
Thursday Jun 18, 2020
My guests on today's programme is Brian Clayton, and he is the uber for grass cutting. Byan has a fascinating story. At 13 years old and playing his Nintendo, his dad made him go and cut from a neighbour's lawn.
The neighbour paid him $20, and he got to wonder how many lawns could he cut.
By the time he was in high school, he had 200 customers, fast forward a few years and while at college he was employing five people.
On graduation, there was a choice. Take a pay cut and get a job or build the business. Bryon went on to create one of the largest landscaping businesses in Tenessee.
His employees were his family; the business gave interest-free loans to change the lives of their families. We at talking sending kids to college and building a supermarket in Guatemala
By 2013 he had taken the business to 150 and $10 million, and it was time to move on, so he sold the company to Lusa holdings.
He tried retirement for a while but needed more of a challenge. He realised how difficult it was for the homeowner to get reliable lawn care.
Seeing the growth of uber and other services, he thought it would be a simple process to create an app to do the job.
What followed was an 8-year journey and lots of personal development, Greenpal will break through $20 million.
The business is more than a simple booking system, the homeowner gets quotes within 60seconds, and the grass cutter gets a business system in a box. The app does everything for them from sending the quote to booking the appointment and taking the payment.
Just like the previous business Bryan has created something that is making a real difference for all involved.
What started as a simple chore to cut the neighbour's lawn has grown into something that changes many lives.
Bryan is a role model; his life is a story of living with the edge, personal development and leadership.
It is an inspiring story and well worth a listen, I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did.

Why ask about Contribution?
Sunday Jun 14, 2020
Sunday Jun 14, 2020
The topic is contribution.
The question only appeared in the podcast late last year and it came about because I started to realise that people were telling me about it. I think contribution and the why are linked together, it's something to do with your purpose for being on the planet.
To ask that question is very valid because it helps us explore the reasons behind the actions that people choose.
Just a quick thank you and to those people that have competed the listener survey. If not you can find it at https://lifepassionandbusiness.com/ and I will be delighted to receive your feedback.
The next show will be on Wednesday and that will be with Brian Clayton and he is the uber of grass cutting little bit of mystery for you..

LP&B 77 Richard Fletcher; The magic marketing sauce.
Wednesday Jun 03, 2020
Wednesday Jun 03, 2020
My guest on today's programme is Richard Fletcher; he is an online business coach who has found the magic marketing sauce. But like many people, it was a journey to get there with lots of different jobs. From a professional gambler to a dating coach.
What is interesting about Richard is that he worked out very early on in life that the success model we were all sold didn't work. He could not see the possibility of working or holding onto a simple job for so many years in order to retire well. It didn't fit there had to be a better solution he spent some time in the corporate world while working on the side hustle.
He did the usual journey through the multi-level marketing systems, drinking their Koolaid and he discovered online marketing however it took many years to make that work as it does for all of us.
The driving force of Richard's desire to make money without working too hard, is sheer laziness plus of a love of interacting with all types of people. Richard loves to spend time with his wife and cats.
This is a little bit of a fireside chat between two marketing guys, the story is good, and Richard has a lovely voice.
I hope you enjoy the conversation with Richard Fletcher
