Paul Maskill is my guest on the show today and runs the Ultimate Freedom Mastermind a project that helps business owners discover their gifts and build successful businesses that can operate without them.
His early love was playing golf, and he dreamed of becoming a professional golfer but was not keen on spending the time needed at the driving range, he just wanted to play. He looked into becoming a club professional, but that job was seven days a week with lots of unsocial hours.
Deciding to leave golf as the hobby he set his sights on banking. He was good at maths and enjoyed spreadsheets so headed for university with plans to enter the finance industry.
By 2011, after less than four years in the finance world, he knew this was not the answer. There must be more to life than doing okay for 40 years and then retiring to enjoy what’s left.
So he started a business; however, he was soon working 60-80 hours a week with a project that couldn’t survive without him.
It was a pattern he saw everywhere, people working for themselves repeating the same mistakes—namely getting passionate, starting a business to get out of the rat race. Only to create a job with long hours and no employment benefits, it was the illusion of freedom.
Seeing the problem, Paul started systematizing his business while empowering a team to run it better than he could. Before long, his revenue had doubled to almost $500k, plus the number of hours he worked dropped below 40. He achieved this remarkable transformation all within four short years.
He went on to sell the company for three times the net profit.
Today, Paul helps other small business owners automate their business so it can thrive without them, enabling them to leverage their business to build a life that they love.
I hope you enjoy the conversation with Paul Maskill

Ann Sieg : Family & Business
Wednesday Oct 21, 2020
Wednesday Oct 21, 2020
My guest on the podcast is very much a family woman for whom business has always been about family. Ann Sieg is an E-Commerce Coach and Community Builder. Taking pride of place on the bookshelf in her office is a pair of knitted Christmas Bells. Her grandmother taught her to knit them when she was just eight years old.
Her mother suggested she knit a few more and go and sell them to the neighbours, that was her first taste of entrepreneurship.
As a young teenager watching the Romanian gymnast, Nadia Comăneci ignited her passion for the sport. It was a little late to start such a demanding practice, but with focus and determination and some reverse engineering, she worked out a training plan to build strength and flexibility into her body.
Although it was too late to become a competitive athlete; her passion for the sport led her to a career as a coach and she worked full time in a sports gym teaching and coaching. As much as she loved that job, it was too much for her body, she retired after 12 years, choosing to focus her time on homeschooling her three children. Not a total surprise as teaching was in her family.
"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire."
A quote attributed to William Butler Yeats.
Taking this quote as the guide, Ann looked to inspire her children and create a varied education so of course one of the topics was business. This time, instead of knitted tree decorations her boys sold toy swords on eBay.
Ann moved into Direct Sales and MLM with varying success; however it was going into business with her eldest son and developing the tools of online marketing when things took off for them. Remember those reverse engineering skills.
Ann developed and documented her direct response process on how to get new customers and prospects to come to you. Ann Sieg is considered one of the pioneers of attraction marketing. Not many authors can say their work has been read by over 400,000 people worldwide.
After training thousands of entrepreneurs and direct sales reps how to build their own online sales funnels and info product businesses, Ann has since redirected her focus into the e-commerce retail space.
Continuing with her love of teaching, she has created coaching and teaching programmes that have impacted the lives of 10’s of thousands of people across the world.
Ann is all about supporting families to build a successful business, and creating communities that support and learn together. Ann is as passionate as ever and has the vision to help 1000’s of people make $10,000 a month and build their own family economy while working from home.

Virtual Event: SPIRIT-DUALITY 14-22 November 2020
I am very aware that life is full of questions that we are seeking answers to.
When I started this podcast, I was looking for meaning. It was exploring the stories of others that helped me find want I was looking for and discover a new purpose in life.
Over that last month, I have had the most fantastic experience speaking to guests from across the world—all to deepen my understanding of what it means to be human.
Spirit-duality is an exploration of the human being from the perspective of belief, intuition and our connection to something greater than the sum of our parts.
As I said, life is full of questions. How is it that some people flow through it all, even when they are challenged?
They seem to have an inner compass, a guide. How do they do that, and what is their secret? Is it self knowledge, confidence or something more?
Through the event we are exploring these life stories and supporting you to find your own compass for these challenging times.
Since starting this podcast, my life work seems to have moved into encouraging, helping and supporting people to live their best life, and I am recognising how we can all be catalysts for each other.
There are 2000 free tickets, come and be part of the community at Spirit-duality and let’s do something extraordinary together.

Today we are celebrating Nikki Love and her new book. “With a little touch of crazy: 63 Marathons in 63 days Adventure.”
Nikki was a guest on the podcast in March 2019. At the time we were celebrating the launch of her first book “Chasing Extraordinary” and today we celebrate the launch of the second book; With a little touch of crazy: 63 Marathons in 63 days Adventure
Back in 2019, Nikki was preparing another adventure to run across her native Australia. Alas, what with COVID that plan went on hold. However not to be daunted, she looked to run the distance on a treadmill in the garden, here in the UK.
With a Little Dash of Crazy:
The 63 Marathons in 63 Days Adventure
That adventure was going fine however after 42 days and 1040 miles on a treadmill, she snapped a tendon in her foot and the running was over for a while.
But she put the time to good use and the second book is out and released this week.
I suspect many people will agree that you need a little touch of crazy to run these distances. It takes a special mindset that is for sure. Check out the original podcast and judge for yourself. Better still buy the book.
Nikki Love & A Little Dash of Crazy
Nikki is an amazing woman who is spreading the word about exercise. Taking the message into schools all over the country. She is leading the charge to helping people understand the benefit of getting active and just get moving. The key to her success is not too run fast.
We were speaking on zoom, so I could see how windswept she looked. Before our conversation she was out running with a local school and then out on the hills with a women’s group in the sleet and rain. There is no stopping her.
It was a great conversation, about her drive and why she does what she does. We also explored her latest project which is running across Australia that will be 4000 Km in 63 days. We talk about sponsorship and how that project is structured.
I hope you enjoy the conversation with Nikki love

As with all projects that are driven by passion and enthusiasm, this event grew out an internal inquiry…
Why do my Podcast Guests Skirt Around The Spirituality Conversation?

Tribute To A Virtual Friend

This week’s Sunday reflection is dedicated to Jim Bliwis
Jim was a virtual friend who passed away only days after his podcast conversation with me was published just over a week ago. This shortcast is my thoughts on Jim and the effect of loosing a friend I had never met in person.
We start with a few words from the podcast and Jim’s view on life. And from there a few words from another friend of his, Tsufit who shares a little bit about him.
The podcast is recorded next to a local monument Sueno’s Stone in Forres. It feels appropriate to be standing here beside a stone that was erected as a tribute. Although I never met Jim and only had a couple of proper conversations with him, I had known him for several years through a LinkedIn group we belonged to and it was a shock to hear of his passing, especially as it was such a short time after recording and publishing the podcast.
This is the first time I have lost a virtual friend, and it occurs to me this is something that hasn’t really been considered. I won’t be able to attend his funeral, so how do I recognize and honour Jim from afar?
Jim’s was a colourful life and I had been chasing Jim to come on the podcast for over a year but he wasn’t up for it. Then out of the blue, he contacted me in September and asked to do it. We recorded the programme on 17th September, and normally it would be 6+ weeks before publishing, but last week I had a problem with the scheduled podcast, so I decided to put Jim’s up instead.
The podcast went live on 30th September/1st October which meant that Jim had a chance to hear it. Then people started connecting with him, asking who was the actress, who was the rockstar. He was really chuffed by this and I feel honoured and touched that I was able to make it possible for him and that people will get to hear his story in his own words through my podcast.
It’s also fascinating that the problem with the other recording ‘coincidentally’ or ‘divinely’ (depending on your viewpoint) meant that Jim had the opportunity to know that others responded to his story with interest and enthusiasm.
So as Jim quoted…
“The meaning of life isn’t to seek the answers, but to find the questions and ask them”.
Thank you Jim, for touching my life and leaving me with this parting gift.

Tracey Rampling Brown : A Leap of Faith
Wednesday Oct 07, 2020

Scroll down for further details about today’s guest.
Welcome to the programme and what an amazing week it’s been. In addition to talking to Tracey Rampling Brown about a 20-year journey and a leap of faith. I am having some amazing conversations with people from all walks of life that I would never have spoken to before.
The conversations are all down to the virtual events, the latest being Spirit-duality. This week I have spoken to a Jesuit, a Rabi, an Intuitive Storyteller and I have scheduled a conversation with an Astronaut! More details below the show notes.
Back to today’s guest Tracey Rampling Brown
Back in April when I was planning my first event, I was looking for speakers and via a string of social connections I landed a call with Tracey Rampling Brown.
I was met with her bright Australian accent and we hit it off immediately. Then I discovered she was living near Turin, Italy. She had relocated the family 18 month previously and life was ‘interesting’ as they were in the middle of a full COVID lockdown.
Tracey was a great asset to the event, and she came back and did another session in my second event. But all the while I was aware there was a story.
What is it that makes a family relocate to the other side of the world?
It turns out that the move was the culmination of a 20-year journey and a leap of faith. Tracey and her husband were both born to families that travelled a lot through their work. They know the benefits that travel and new environments can bring and wanted their children to have the same experience.
This podcast is her story. The journey of turning a dream into a new family life became a reality which meant a big change, a leap of faith and trusting in a little magic.
Using that experience and some retraining, Tracey has built a new career as a ‘Mindset and Manifestation Coach’ working with heart-centred women looking to bring a bit of magic into their own lives.
Tracey’s style is a blend of woo-woo with equal measures of science to back it up. She combines elements of Positive Intelligence, traditional and appreciative coaching methodologies with the Law of Attraction, Reiki and Tarot/Oracle reading!
I hope you enjoy this week’s conversation with Tracey Rampling Brown.

What Is Right In Front Of You?

Welcome to this week’s Sunday reflection. These Shortcasts are mostly unplanned and are created as a way of connecting with you through whatever is occurring for me in the moment.
Last week I had a piece of music running through my head. It had been ghosting me for days and is a particular recording of the Lou Reed ‘Perfect Day’ song that was done by the BBC years ago. It’s a personal favourite of mine that often pops up when I reflect on my perfect days. I believe songs that ghost us are there as a reminder of something and that’s why I did Perfect Day last week.
However, on this occasion I realised the song had been triggered by a topic of conversation in the Change Your World Everyday personal development group. The coach that week was Sally Baker and as always it was an interesting conversation.
Last week I forgot to add Change Your World and Sally Baker into the footnote links. I have gone back and added them, but I just want mention it here because they both do some great work and are worth checking out. Link here to the Perfect Day Shortcast.
This week’s topic has arisen out of a conversation with my Mother-in-Law, which directed my thoughts towards the question…
“What are you missing that is right in front of you”.
I love making wild food. It has been fantastic bringing food in from the newly established garden plot this year, and this is something I will expand on in years to come. I also love foraging for free food, there is a lot of satisfaction in picking something up that would be left to rot and making good use of it. Or trying out something new like I did with last year’s acorns.
One thing that has always fascinated me is the rarer foods. The things we don’t see very often. My mother-in-law recently pointed out that the two bushes in my front garden are quince. These bushes have been there for years and I keep trimming them back when they get big, but I never knew what they were.
It was right in front of me and I didn’t know it!
Apparently they are Japanese Ornamental Quince and they produce a fruit that has an amazing perfumed smell and makes a delicious quince jelly. Having discovered what they are, I have now discovered that the riverbank opposite our house is full of them! So I have been out foraging and started making my own quince jelly.
All the years I have lived here, and I didn’t know that resource was there – right in front of me. Which made me wonder what else is in our lives that we don’t know is there? What is it that we don’t do, that we are not aware that we could do?
Looking at my health journey, if you had told me years ago that I could be this healthy at 57, I wouldn’t have believed it were possible, and yet this resource has always been here for me I just never explored it. The same thing with the Podcasting journey.
Inner Resources
There are so many things that are just in front of us, and we don’t reach out and grab them. The quince has been such a fascinating eye opener. An opportunity to look and see what’s out there, all around us and within us. Unless we look we don’t see what’s available all the time, just waiting to be grasped.
In the business world companies are starting to do an audit of the resources they have within their organization that they weren’t aware of. They have been used to looking outside the organization to pull new resources in, and all along they already had them and didn’t know it.
So this week’s gift, thanks to the quince is to be open to what’s possible, be open to what’s in front of us, because sometimes what we want is staring us in the face.
So my invitation this week is have a look around your life. What is there that you are not seeing, and what could be useful?
Before I go, just a quick reminder that I will be back Live on the Facebook page at 5pm on Wednesday evening with my LIVE@5 where I will be talking about the forthcoming event Spirit-duality and sharing a bit about my personal journey.
